Some 5 kilometeres of marked walking tracks in the Reserve offer the visitor the opportunity to experience the natural environment and take in the remnants of a bygone era. The main track known as the Germantown Loop Track, when fully completed will follow both the right and left banks of the Ovens River linking at the Germantown and Freeburgh bridges. There are also four side-tracks leading to various historical and natural points of interest  along the Reserve. A boardwalk and rest area was recently completed in the northern section of the Reserve next to the main walking track.
